FAQs

What will the route be for 2024?

  • La Crosse to Milwaukee… One last time! The 2025 route will be different.

Why did you take away the 1-day full-state option for RAW?

  • We’re sad to say goodbye to our 1-day full-state option. The mission of the Wisconsin Bike Fed, RAW’s beneficiary, is to promote safe cycling. For the past two years, a very limited number of participants were able to safely complete the 235 mile, 1-day option. In 2024, our 1-day ride will end at Trek Headquarters and riders will enjoy Trek's legendary hospitality while celebrating 165 beautiful and challenging miles. For those who want to cross the whole state, the 2-day, 235 ride to Milwaukee is for you!

Is there a recorded session of your Info Night?

  • Access is also available to the 35 minute recording via social media: Facebook or Instagram

What is the pricing structure for 2024?

  • RAW will continue to be a pay-per-mile format. EX: 1-day to Trek (165 miles) will be $165 plus taxes and fees. Find out more on RunSignup.com/rideacrosswisconsin.com.

  • Multi-Person Pricing

    • Get the band back together! A group discount of 10% will be provided for teams of 6 or more. The designated Team Captain must register all 6 people for pricing to take effect. Information should be gathered prior to attempting to register. This discount will only be honored for those registered at the time of registrations.

  • Price increases will occur on May 1st (+$25) and August 1st (+$50).

What accommodations are there?

  • Lodging

    • We have worked with a number of recommended hotels and campgrounds in La Crosse, Wisconsin Dells, and Milwaukee. Those hotels are listed on our Lodging Page. Rooms fill quickly!

    • If our hotels are full by the time your try to book rooms, you are welcome to stay elsewhere along the route, but we can only provide luggage service to our recommended hotels. Don’t wait - lodging fills up quickly!

  • Transportation

  • Luggage

    • Prices vary based on your desired route option - view our Accommodations page.

      • Rider luggage should consist of a single large backpack that you can ride with for up to a mile or two from the vehicle parking to the luggage drop-off/pick-up locations. Please DO NOT bring large suitcases unless you are riding a cargo bike ;) This service can be purchased as an add-on when you register.

        • Saturday morning: YOU bring your luggage to the start line. RAW will bring your luggage to your finish line.

        • Sunday morning (2-dayers): RAW will pick up luggage from hotels in which there are room blocks, or YOU can drop your luggage at Sunday’s start line at Captain Bob’s Park RAW will bring your luggage to your finish line.

Rest Stops

  • Rest stops and aid stations are typically run by local volunteers in the host communities RAW passes through. You will find one, on average, every 20-25 miles along the route.

  • Trek will be pulling out the stop of all stops (and finish line) at their HQ Aid Station in Waterloo.

  • All rest stops include water, hydration mix, energy bars and chews, and real food such as fruit and snacks.

Why do you not offer a 3 and 4-day option for RAW?

  • In 2021, we included those options because it was run differently during the pandemic with a much smaller number of participants. With the increase in ridership, lodging is very limited in ideal cities that would come with a 3 and 4-day route, restricting our ability to provide these options.

  • Wisconsin is blessed with many easier, well-run rides from single-day centuries to multi-day rides with shorter daily routes. The Bike Fed publishes an annual Ride Guide to promote those rides. If RAW is not for you, we encourage you to sign up for one of the many other great rides our state has to offer.

What is the minimum age for RAW?

  • Participants must be 16 or older.  Participants younger than 18 years old at the time of the event must have waivers signed, and be accompanied, by a parent/supervisor.

Why is there no more “Founder’s Discount”?

  • We appreciate and thank those amazing folks who have ridden RAW since the first year. We will make every effort to acknowledge you at the starting line!

  • Check out Discounts here.
